Upper Mustang Trek is a most dramatic trek for those trekkers who love to visit ancient Last Forbidden Kingdom of Nepal. Geographically Mustang is a part of the Tibetan plateau, which lies in the north of Annapurna region, Nepal on the rear end of majestic mountains, Nilgiri, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Upper Mustang trekking falls on the restricted area of Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP). During Upper Mustang Treks the visitors get chance to witness stunning Trans-Himalaya landscape, ancient Tibetan Buddhist shrines such as Stupas, Chortens, Prayers walls,  old monasteries and local old houses. The main attraction of upper mustang trek is Lo-manthang, Lo-Manthang is the capital of Upper Mustang, and the villages around the Lo-manthang trekking area are inhabited by the Tibetan Buddhists.

Upper Mustang was first opened to foreign trekkers in 1992 A.D and even today, access in the area is still highly restricted. Upper mustang starts from Kagbeni, further north from Kagbeni, trekkers needs a special permit from the government. Special permits are only given by government if the number of trekkers is two or more than two. Single traveler is strictly prohibited in the region and the trekking guide is also compulsory. Hidden caves from the ancient Nepal are one of the most exciting moments during the trek. It is said that upper mustang is the connecting way for the ancient market between India and China.
